It turned out to be a tasty weekend for Hubby Bryan and me.
First of all, we made a quick Jeep foray down to Okoboji on Saturday and finally stopped at a place we’ve been hearing about for years: the Taco House.
All I can say is yum. We tried the sampler platter and also a chimichanga, and both were excellent. It’s a whole other genre of fast-food Mexican. The only thing that could have made it better was an ice-cold Pacifico or Corona, but they don’t serve beer. Next time we might pack a cooler, get the food to go and find a park for a picnic.
Then on Sunday, we tried the Chipotle-Lime Barbecue sauce (blog from last Friday, June 24) on both chicken wings and country-style pork ribs. Both turned out quite tasty. Bryan upped the heat level on the wings by adding some hot pepper flakes and a bit of Tabasco to the sauce; he would have liked them even hotter, but I thought they had perfect level of fire. I don’t like my lips to burn!
