It’s been an Oscar-centric morning here at the Daily Globe.
Being in the news business, we in the newsroom engaged in a full discussion of what everybody wore to the Academy Awards and whether or not we liked their attire.
We give a thumb’s up to: Helen Mirren, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Williams, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway. As hostess for the night’s events, Hathaway had numerous outfit changes, and I thought each subsequent gown was better than the last.
Mixed reviews were given to several celebs: Scarlett Johansen, Mila Kunis, Sandra Bullock, Annette Bening and Jennifer Hudson.
On our worst-dressed list: Sharon Stone, Cate Blanchett, Marisa Tomei and Nicole Kidman, Melissa Leo and Virginia Madsen.
In the midst of our critique, I had the pleasure of — for lack of a better word — “correcting” — the entries in the Daily Globe’s annual Oscar Contest. I wasn’t too surprised that five people guessed all seven categories correctly. Given that there were no real surprises among the winners, I really expected that more people would get 100 percent. A lot of entries had six or five categories correct, usually missing on the best director and supporting actor categories.
For those who did enter and think they got all the categories right, the prizes are already in the mail.
