Election day is finally here. Hoorah! It will be nice to watch TV without being bombarded by political ads.
When I started here at the Daily Globe — 22 years ago last week! — I worked my very first election night during my first full week on the job. I had no idea what I was doing, really knew nothing about politics, but somehow muddled through.
Now, 22 years later, not much has changed. Well, I do know what I’m doing in the newsroom, although I have to admit my knowledge of politics is still pretty slim.
But I know enough to make my voice heard. Since the news staff will be here until the wee hours of the morning covering the election and putting the paper together, I slept in this morning. On my way in to the office, I stopped and voted. Civic duty done. Now on to election coverage.
If you haven’t voted, please get out and do so. Otherwise you forfeit your right to complain.
