I was powerless to resist. When something titled “Barbecued Worm Sandwiches” popped up in my e-mail box, I just had to check it out.
The accompanying photo didn’t dissuade me from thinking that this recipe was something truly disgusting. But then I read the ingredients.
Hot dogs and barbecue sauce.
That’s all it really takes to serve up some Barbecued Worm Sandwiches for Halloween supper. It’s really quite an ingenious idea, and I if I had young children at home, I know just what I’d be serving them prior to trick-or-treating.
The idea comes from Pillsbury.
Barbecued Worm Sandwiches
Cut eight hot dogs lengthwise into six strips.
In a 10-inch nonstick skillet, heat the hot dog strips over medium-high heat until the strips begin to curl. Gently stir in ½ cup barbecue sauce until the hot dog strips are coated. Heat until bubbly.
Place eight slices of American cheese on the bottom halves of eight buns. Top with the hot dog mixture and cover with top halves of buns.
Makes 8 thoroughly disgusting servings.
