Over the past weekend, Hubby Bryan and I made our first foray to Target Field. Despite a glitch with our hotel reservation (I will never use a certain Internet-based hotel reservation site again!), it was a lovely — although not exactly relaxing — weekend trip.
And the highlight was certainly taking in Target Field. Our seats weren’t the best — we should have practiced more patience in our first attempt at buying tickets from the scalpers — but it didn’t really matter. The view was spectacular, and from our high vantage point, we could really take in the entire ballpark. We drank a couple of Grain Belt Premiums, shared a footlong hotdog, and conversed with a couple of guys in the next seats. One of our seatmates had come all the way from Arizona for the game, and he just happened to be a novice home brewer, so we had a lot to talk about.
The Twins won in a game that went by far too fast for us to really absorb all of the new park’s atmosphere. As we finally descended from our high-up perch, we were amazed to see that it was pouring rain. It hadn’t rained at all during the game, but must have started shortly after it ended.
But even getting soaked in our sprint to a nearby restaurant to meet friends couldn’t dampen our enthusiasm for the Twins’ new home. I’m sure this will be only the first of many trips to Target Field in years to come. Go Twins!
