Christmas is over, and thoughts have moved toward New Year’s celebrations. For those who are planning to usher in 2010 with a party, I’ve been searching for some appetizer ideas. Here’s a recipe that co-worker Justine Wettschreck made with success for an Avoca appetizer gathering.
Watch for more easy snacking ideas tomorrow on both this blog and in the print edition of the Daily Globe.
Crescent Pizza Pinwheels
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray.
Unroll one 8-ounce can refrigerated crescent dinner rolls; separate dough into 4 rectangles and firmly press perforations to seal.
Sprinkle rectangles with 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, 1/3 cup finely chopped pepperoni, 2 tablespoons finely chopped green or red bell pepper and ½ cup shredded Italian cheese blend.
Starting with one short side, roll up each rectangle, pressing edges to seal. With a serrated knife, cut each roll into 6 slices and place cut side down on cookie sheet.
Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Immediately remove pinwheels from cookie sheet and serve with warmed pizza sauce for dipping. Makes 24.
