Yesterday at the Daily Globe, there was a reception to honor Bob Cashel, a fixture in the Daily Globe newsroom for many years and most recently the guy who turned out the monthly weather reports and reviews.
Bob has decided to give up his weather duties, so we used it as an opportunity to recognize his distinguished career here at the newspaper. There was a wonderful turnout of friends and former Daily Globe colleagues — a reunion of sorts of for Daily Globe oldtimers.
I’ve been here 21 years myself, but these folks go back way before then. I fit among their ranks, however, as DotMom’s daughter.
As the saying goes, a good time was had by all, and there was an abundance of food, including a cake with Bob’s photo circa 1969 printed on top.
To wash it all down, I made punch, improvising on a recipe from “Mixing & Musing,” substituting frozen cranberry concentrate for orange juice concentrate. It would be good for any type of holiday gathering.
Cash’s Bash Punch
Combine 1 can cranberry juice concentrate, one can lemonade concentrate and 1 can limeade concentrate. Add 2 quarts cold water and 2 quarts gingerale. Serve with ice.
