Back From Milwaukee

Every year at this time, hubby Bryan and I take a little trip.

Oftentimes, it’s been to Cuero, Texas, to be part of the that community’s Turkeyfest, watch Paycheck and Ruby Begonia battle on Esplanade Avenue and, most importantly, see wonderful friends.

This year, we opted not to go to Texas — “We can’t go every year,” asserts hubby — so instead, this year we chose Milwaukee.

Although we have been to Wisconsin multiple times, we’ve never gotten quite that far east. But with a few days of vacation, we decided it was a doable trip. (No, we did not take the Jeep Wrangler with the top off. A bit too cold for that.)

Although the skies were overcast for most of the trip, we saw some beautiful fall color along the way, particularly on the east side of La Crosse. On Thursday night, we got a great deal at a Courtyard by Marriott in Brookfield, Wis., on the west side of the city. That location made it possible for us to connect with recent Worthington transplants Kevin and Kami Lease for supper, and we got a chance to tour their beautiful new home in Oconomowoc.

After three days out of the office, I’ve got a lot to catch up on here, but I’ll share a few more tales from our trip in the next couple of days.
