As the parade chairwoman, I’m caught up in the midst of King Turkey Day preparations this week. I guess “caught up in” is an understatement. Losing my mind might be a better way of putting it.
Last night, the parade lineup was put together with the help of my wonderful parade volunteers. We have an awesome group of people — which is why I continue to be involved with the parade even though I have long left the ranks of the KTD board of directors. Everybody knows their job and does it well. Sure, there are a lot of hassles associated with lining up more than 100 parade units and getting them all where they are supposed to be, but for the most part, we have a good time doing it.
So if any of my volunteers are out there — thank you, thank you, thank you. You keep me sane.
To all the parade watchers out there: Thanks for your support, too. I think it’s going to be another great parade this year — 11 bands! — and all of us who work on putting it together get a thrill out of seeing the crowds show up and enjoy our efforts.
